A ten-week training course is held at
regular intervals throughout the year for puppies and beginners. For
details of the next available course and the cost, please use the
contact details shown on the contact page.
In the beginners course, which is held
from 7.00pm to 7.30 pm, we teach the following basic commands of sit.
Down. Stay. Come. And heel walking (nicely on a lead).
The benefits teaching your dog such
things in a class environment is part of socialising your dog and also
means that your dog becomes accustomed to listening to you and the
following instructions when there are distractions around them.
Once you have completed the 10 week
course you have the opportunity to continue to build on the basics you
have learnt by joining the next class, which commences at 7.30pm, this
class is also for more experienced handlers who have taken on puppies
or rescue dogs. In this class, as in the later classes, we work
towards passing progress tests as well as giving people the
opportunity to pass the Kennel Club Good Citizen’s Dog Scheme Award.
For more details on the Kennel Club Good Citizen’s Dog Scheme,
please visit www.the-kennel-club.org.uk
The two later classes are for our most
experienced handlers who wish to train to a higher level of obedience,
as well as taking part in the Good Citizen’s Awards, attaining, in a
lot of cases, the Gold Award, we also run further progress tests and
road safety tests. For more information on the individual progress
tests, please contact us. For a booking form, costs or how to join in
the training classes see the contact page.
